County To Receive More Funds for Roadwork
During the Tuesday, May 19, meeting, the Harris County Commissioners approved more repair work on county roads.
It was reported the county had been allocated in excess of $1.1 million in LRA, or Local Road Assistance Funds. This supplemental amount had not been anticipated or budgeted, and is a one-time allocation.

It was reported the county had been allocated in excess of $1.1 million in LRA, or Local Road Assistance Funds. This supplemental amount had not been anticipated or budgeted, and is a one-time allocation.
However, projects had to be submitted for approval by June 15, 2026.
The county’s public works department quickly put together a list of roads needing work that included:
• Bellinger Place, a distance of 1/10 mile;
• Dogwood Lane, a distance of 1/10 mile;
• Grant Road, a distance of 1.1 miles;
• Hudson Mill Loop, a distance of 3/4 mile;
• McCrary Road, a distance of 1/2 mile;
• Morton Court, a distance of 9/10 mile;
• Mulberry Lane, a distance of 3/10 mile;
• Ossahatchie Creek Road, a distance of one mile; and
• Scott Drive, a distance of 1/2 mile.
The total distance of repairs is 5.4 miles with the total grant amount of $1,119,475.74.
It was explained that should additional funds be needed they can be allocated from the county’s TSPLOST, or Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.
The commissioners unanimously approved the project.
