Second Saturday Returns to Hamilton

Second Saturday is coming back to Hamilton starting in June and under new management.

Previously operated by Cheryl Rees, retired high school teacher and owner of Boutique on the Square in Hamilton, Second Saturday had achieved a faithful following of both vendors and customers. It included arts and crafts, baked goods, collectibles, yard sale items, and just about anything else.

That is until June 2025 when Rees stepped aside from organizing the event. The city took over the operation of Second Saturday but it was held sporadically until grinding to a halt later in 2025.

Hamilton City Manager Rhett Wade has announced the Humane Society of Harris County will resume the operation of Second Saturday in Hamilton beginning Saturday, June 13.

In a prepared release, Hamilton Mayor Patrick Whearley noted, “I think this is a perfect fit. The Humane Society needs support, exposure and foot traffic to help find ‘furever’ homes and Hamilton needs this legacy to continue in a way that benefits us all. The Humane Society seems to have thought of everything. They really want this to soon be a monthly ‘Can’t Miss’ event.”

When Second Saturday resumes in June, proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Humane Society of Harris County.

“Hamilton thanks Cheryl Rees of Boutique on the Square for her years of dedication to these events and look forward to the future under the Humane Society’s administration,” Rhett noted.
